Where do the Candidates Stand on Built Heritage Issues?

Heritage Winnipeg’s 2022 Municipal Election Survey

In anticipation of Winnipeg’s municipal election on October 26th, 2022, Heritage Winnipeg sent a survey to all candidates, hoping to better understand what built heritage means to each of them and what actions they would be willing take in support of built heritage if elected.

Conserving built heritage can help address many of the pressing issues in our city, but good intentions alone will not save a building. Heritage conservation is a complex and challenging task that requires a clear and holistic vision, collaboration, functional tools, practical steps forward and measurable outcomes.

The survey contained five yes/no questions with an opportunity to leave additional comments at the end. Below are all the responses that have been submitted thus far – updates will be made should additional responses be submitted. Please note that the wards of Old Kildonan and St. Norbert-Seine River are not included as the candidates have already been acclaimed.

We hope this will help you make a more informed decision in the upcoming election!
