The National Trust Conference (with Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals & Indigenous Heritage Circle) is Canada’s largest heritage learning & networking event. Every year, the conference brings together 500+ individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including professionals (new and established), artisans and advocates, developers, planners, heritage site operators, researchers, students, and volunteers from across Canada and beyond. This lively annual gathering includes challenging and fascinating case studies and lessons from heritage practice, communities, and industry, as well as productive debate and goal-setting discussions.

Heritage Now!

The National Trust Conference will be in Halifax this year with heritage volunteers, policymakers, and professionals from across Canada. This year’s theme, Heritage Now!, will explore the urgent need to protect, sustain, and reinvent our heritage places. Participants will gain insight and inspiration through case studies, lessons, and meaningful discussions. Meet peers from all throughout Canada, as well as potential employers or project collaborators. You don’t want to miss this important event!

The Sanford Building and Maw’s Garage Redevelopment Project
How do you take two small underused heritage buildings and convert them into a multi storey mixed use project? How do you help create a vibrant, modern neighbourhood while being respectful of the historic context and existing community? How do you move forward when all your plans have gone up in smoke? You will not want to miss the developers of this Exchange District adaptive reuse project speaking about their plans and how they hope to navigate the challenging circumstances they face after two fires. Come find out how they are helping build a brighter future for Winnipeg!

The Red River Heritage Fair program encourages students to explore the history of our country in a dynamic and hands-on environment. Students from grades 4 t0 9 use the medium of their choice to recount the stories of the people, events and key moments from Canadian history. The selected projects from participating schools are then presented at the Red River Heritage Fair.

Along with presenting their projects, at the fair the students also respond to questions from judges; participate in interactive workshops; and share their project with fellow students, parents, teachers, and community members. It is an exciting and fast-paced day of learning about Canada’s history with lots of awards to be won!
