Heritage Winnipeg’s Newest Publication Becomes Best Seller!

On February 6th, 2024, there was a packed house at McNally Robinson’s Grant Park location as Heritage Winnipeg officially launched its newest publication, Winnipeg 150: Stories Our Buildings Tell. This beautiful book produced to commemorate Winnipeg’s 150 anniversary is packed with 150 original illustrations of the city’s handsome buildings, past and present, accompanied by the fascinating stories they tell. Heritage Winnipeg’s President, Greg Agnew, attended the book launch in his top and tails, hosting the event along with Heritage Winnipeg’s Executive Director, Cindy Tugwell. Also present was Robert Sweeney, the local artist that made all the illustrations for the book, speaking about his work and signing copies of the book. It was a wonderful evening reminiscing about Winnipeg’s 150 years of rich history, sharing stories of the city’s rise from a few wooden shacks to a thriving cosmopolitan metropolis. It is a story of innovation, perseverance and tenacity, overcoming many hurdles and finding new ways to flourish in the 21st century.

Heritage Winnipeg would like to thank everyone who joined us at the book launch for the official release of Winnipeg 150: Stories Our Buildings Tell and McNally Robinson for hosting the event, it was a fabulous evening. We would also like to thank everyone who has purchased a copy of the book as all proceeds support Heritage Winnipeg’s mission to advocate for and celebrate our city’s invaluable built heritage. Since officially launching the book at McNally Robinson, it has been flying off the shelves and promptly climbed to the top of the bookseller’s “best seller” list, staying there for weeks. It is a testament to your interest in and support of Winnipeg’s built heritage. Thank you!

If you missed the book launch, you can still purchase a copy of the book through the Heritage Winnipeg website or at McNally Robinson. It is a wonderful souvenir of Winnipeg’s sesquicentennial that captures the diversity of our city, past and present. We hope you will pick up a copy and join us in cherishing the 150 years of stories Winnipeg’s buildings tell!
