    Ralph Connor House

    54 West Gate, Winnipeg, Manitoba

The University Women’s Club Continuing Education Committee is hosting a three part lecture series titled “Winnipeg Architecture: Looking Back, Looking Ahead” at Ralph Connor House (54 West Gate). The first of these lectures will be given by Heritage Winnipeg’s Executive Director, Cindy Tugwell!

Join Cindy for “Winnipeg 150: Then and Now”, a presentation that celebrates built heritage and the heritage community. In the first part of the presentation, Cindy will share some of the most important and influential buildings in our city’s history, ranging from the Red River Frame structures of the 1850s to the modernist masterpieces of the late 1960s. The second part tells the story of Heritage Winnipeg, beginning with the “Save our Heritage” movement of the late 1970s and moving through the many projects that the organization has been involved in, ending with ongoing projects and looking to the future.

The lecture series will take place at the historic home of Reverend Charles Gordon, who is more commonly recognized by his pen name, Ralph Connor. When Gordon passed away in 1937, the historic property was purchased by the University Women’s Club. Since then, the club has continued to use the house as a meeting place while respecting and honouring its important history.

Tickets for all three lectures can be purchased on the University Women’s Club Website. We hope to see you there!
