The Millennium Centre Joins Exchange District BIZ for Historic Places Days 2024

For ONE WEEK ONLY – The Millennium Centre is joining the Exchange District BIZ History Tour for Historic Places Days! The “History of the Exchange” tours on July 10th-12th and 15th-17th will begin with a short tour of the first floor of the century-old bank.

Located at 389 Main Street, the Millennium Centre was built in 1912 and served as the regional head office of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce until the late 1960s. It has been under the ownership of the 389 Main Street Heritage Corporation since 2000 and has operated as an event centre since 2002. As one of the first municipally designated heritage sites in the city, the Millennium Centre tells the story of Heritage Winnipeg and the ongoing fight to protect our built heritage.

The Exchange District BIZ’s “History of the Exchange” walking tour is a 90-minute journey through the historic and vibrant neighbourhood. Learn about the city’s 150-year history by exploring this National Historic Site! The Millennium Centre will be the first stop on the tour and participants will receive a 10 minute tour of the first floor with Heritage Winnipeg Executive Director Cindy Tugwell.

The Millennium Centre will be included on the following tour dates:

Wednesday, July 10th, 10:30am
Thursday, July 11th, 10:30am
Friday, July 12th, 10:30am
Tuesday, July 16th, 10:30am
Wednesday, July 17th, 10:30am

Heritage Winnipeg and the Millennium Centre are very excited to be collaborating with the wonderful people over at the Exchange District BIZ.
