Provincial Heritage Award Presented to Kenneth Ingram

On May 8th, 2025, Kenneth Ingram, Heritage Winnipeg Board Member and President of the Seven Oaks Historical Society, was presented with the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion. The annual award, first established in 2011, recognizes individuals who “have rendered prolonged, meritorious service in the preservation and promotion of Manitoba’s history and heritage.” This year the award was presented to five outstanding Manitobans by Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville at the historic 1883 Government House at 10 Kennedy Street.

Born and raised in the suburbs of northwest Winnipeg, Ingram has a deep passion for the history of his community. He has dedicated thousands of hours to researching and sharing the area’s stories through historical walking tours, his blog Stories of Scotia, and the Seven Oaks Historical Society which he founded in 2024. The society meets monthly at the Bleak House Centre to record, preserve, and promote the history of northwest Winnipeg. Ingram is also an active member of the North East Winnipeg Historical Society and a contributor to the Manitoba Historical Society website.

Since joining the Heritage Winnipeg Board in 2024, Ingram has brought valuable knowledge and enthusiasm to the organization. He has also played a significant role in Doors Open Winnipeg by leading two insightful walking tours: Foundation to Frame: Foundation to Frame: The Alex Pollock Walking Tour and Then & Now: Scotia’s Fight Against the 1950 Flood. Heritage Winnipeg’s President, Greg Agnew, and Executive Director, Cindy Tugwell, were honoured to attend the award ceremony at Government House and celebrate this meaningful recognition with Ingram.

Congratulations to Kenneth Ingram on this well-deserved honour! His dedication to preserving our city’s heritage inspires and enriches our community.
