An Enjoyable Evening Under The Dome

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday, November 8th, 2024, for Heritage Winnipeg’s fall fundraiser, Under The Dome, in the historic Millennium Centre at 389 Main Street. It was an evening to remember in the gorgeous heritage building, with good friends, good food and good entertainment. Our first in person fundraiser since 2019, it was wonderful to see so many people gathered for an important cause – supporting advocating for and celebrating Winnipeg’s built heritage. Held on the exact same date the City of Winnipeg was incorporated, it was also a glamorous way to commemorate Winnipeg’s 150th anniversary!

The evening began with a cozy VIP reception in the handsome Tapestry Room, accompanied by live piano music. As the main cocktail party began, the Millennium Centre looked stunning with beautiful lights projected on its towering walls, and the air filled with the musical styling of Pablo Fuentes, who played both clarinet and guitar. Delicious food abounded with everything from hot hors d’oeuvres to delectable desserts on the menu, and a special Winnipeg 150 drink to sip on. Brand new custom designed Heritage Winnipeg merchandise was available for the first time, and local artist Robert Sweeney was on site to sign copies of Heritage Winnipeg’s latest publication, Winnipeg 150: Stories Our Buildings Tell, which he illustrated. The highlight of the evening was performances by Manitoba Underground Opera, filling the grand old banking hall with stunning singing, performed live from the mezzanine level.

Heritage Winnipeg would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this event such a great success! From the sponsors and fundraising committee to the volunteers and guests, we could not have hosted such a fantastic event without you! Your contributions will allow Heritage Winnipeg to continue our important work ensuring Winnipeg’s built heritage can help build a vibrant and sustainable community. Thank you!
