Congratulations 2026 Red River Heritage Fair Winners!
On April 30, 2026, Heritage Winnipeg President Greg Agnew had the honour of being a volunteer judge at the 2026 Red River Heritage Fair, held at the University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre. During the event, students showcased their knowledge of heritage through artwork, interactive activities, PowerPoint presentations, and displays. Students from grades 4 to 9 used a medium of their choice to explore a wide range of topics connected to Canadian history and culture.
Among the many participants, Heritage Winnipeg selected three projects focused on Winnipeg’s built heritage to receive the Heritage Winnipeg Award. This year’s winners were Zach Paraiso and Dane Sta Rosa for their project on the 1950 Red River Flood, Maevis Botkin from Balmoral Hall School for her project on the Grey Nuns (she even dressed as a nun to create a more immersive presentation!) and Icelynn Sanderson from Showman School for her project on the buffalo, which exhibited the many ways Indigenous peoples used the animal. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners for their excellent work!
