Fantastic First: Local Artist Showcase

Heritage Winnipeg presented its first ever “Local Artist Showcase” on Friday, November 1st, 2024 with an enthusiastic crowd taking part in the free, one-night-only event inside the historic Millennium Centre at 389 Main Street. It was part of First Fridays in the Exchange, a monthly event that encourages the exploration of the arts and culture of the Exchange District National Historic Site. As Heritage Winnipeg’s first foray into First Fridays in the Exchange, it was a marvelous evening filled with comradery and conversations, with friends new and old celebrating the intersection of arts and heritage. A wonderful range of works were on display, including that of the winners of Heritage Winnipeg’s summer art contest. Guest speakers Jordan Van Sewell, artist and former Heritage Winnipeg President, and Jen Arnold, artist and CBC Gem “Best In Miniature” season three contestant, were also in attendance to share their experiences with heritage and arts. Heritage Winnipeg would like to thank all the participating artists, guest speakers, attendees and First Fridays in the Exchange for helping make this event a success. Attractive art and handsome heritage create great synergy!
