Thank you to The Old House Revival Company for donating beautiful historic door hardware to the Millennium Centre! The hardware was discovered by chance in the antique store at 324 Young Street by Heritage Winnipeg’s President, Greg Agnew. A dedicated volunteer caretaker of the Millennium Centre, the 1912 former Bank of Commerce building, Agnew immediately knew the hardware at the antique store matched that found in the historic building. Acting on a hunch, Agnew came back with an old key from the Millennium Centre – one that did not open any locks in the building – to test it in the hardware at the antique store. Much to everyone’s surprise, the key worked! The hardware is now reunited with the key in the Millennium Centre at 389 Main Street, installed on a door of the Tapestry Room that previously had a replacement knob.
