New Heritage Winnipeg Board Member
Heritage Winnipeg is pleased to welcome Jordan Makichuk to our Board of Directors! Coming from West Kildonan, Makichuk brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization. He has a deep passion for built heritage – the design and construction of it, the people who occupied it, how it has changed over time and the benefits of its adaptive reuse. His particular interest is in historic churches and synagogues, commercial buildings, and residences of significance (especially by acclaimed architects like Max Blankstein, Edgar Prain, and John Atchchison).
Makichuk has volunteered thousands of hours to tenaciously researching and documenting history throughout the province, with the information being published on the Manitoba Historical Society’s website. In 2024, his efforts were recognized when he was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion. We are so thrilled for the fresh insights, energy and enthusiasm Makichuk will bring our board, helping us better pursue our goal of advocating for and celebrating Winnipeg’s built heritage. Welcome!
